Eva Cukier is a Dutch independent journalist with degrees in Slavic languages and political science. She writes her articles while traveling through Russia and the Eastern European region. Besides her journalistic activities Eva works as a freelance consultant, researcher and translator for different companies and organisations, among which 360 Magazine and Radio Netherlands Worldwide.
Eva lived in Groningen, Saint Petersburg, Berlin, Tbilisi, Moscow and is currently based in Amsterdam. In 2014 she finished a postdoc in journalism at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
She started writing when she first came to Russia in the 1990s. Her articles have been published in various magazines and newspapers.
Before engaging in journalistic adventures, Eva has worked at the Netherlands Embassy in Moscow and the international women’s rights fund Mama Cash in Amsterdam.
